Residents in the Waterloo region are able to receive curbside recycling collection along with waste collection on a weekly basis. Recycling information and regulations are laid out in the Region of Waterloo's Blue-Box program.
Businesses and other commercial clients are eligible to receive curbside blue-box recycling collection if they are located on an existing curbside collection route. A maximum of three blue-boxes and three bundles of cardboard is allowed per business, per pickup. Any additional recycling and waste services must be done by a waste removal services and recycling contractor, such as Panda Environmental. Organic waste is handled by the Region of Waterloo's Green-Bin program. Nearly 50% of all waste is organic waste, and can be recycled using an organic waste plan that diverts organic waste from landfills and processes it in an environmentally friendly manner. Waste collection and disposal in the Kitchener-Waterloo region is governed by the Regional Council of Waterloo.
