"I wanted to tell you how much we appreciate your ‘pickup’ guys. They are amazing. The boss actually watched the driver 2 weeks ago…he got out of the truck and straightened the garbage container, picked up a bag that had fallen out in the dumping process and put it in the can, then removed 2 black bags from the recyclables that had been put in there by error (I assume). Never before have we had/seen such amazing service!"

Residents in the Guelph region are able to receive curbside recycling collection along with waste collection and organic collection on a weekly basis. These items are all separated into three carts: a green one for organics, a blue one for recycling, and a grey one for anything that's to be sent to the landfill. The grey carts are picked up on a weekly basis whereas the blue and green ones will be rotated (green and grey one week, blue and grey the next). This more thorough waste management routine has an advantage over more traditional collection methods as it takes less time to separate the types of waste and can be processed easily. Recycling information and regulations are laid out in this sorting guide. You can also check out this neat video to help you learn more about what types of items go into each cart.
Organic waste is picked up on a bi-weekly basis in Guelph and must be placed in the Green carts that are supplied to you. Here's a list of some of the items which can be placed into your Green carts:
Dairy products
House plants and flowers
